This item is an OEM replacement part from Ford for the I5 2.5 turbocharged engines and manufactured by Bosch, fitting the Focus RS Mk2 The MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor is responsible for monitoring variances in pressure / boost and advising the ECU of any changes.
 
Total lack of boost and in extreme cases no boost at all would be a good pointer that your MAP sensor is faulty. The map sensor can become contaminated by oil vapour blown back from the inlet and over time this contamination can cause signal problems with the device.
